Boris Johnson, Mayor of London: Children at risk of radicalisation should be in care.

“Muslim children who risk radicalisation by their parents should be taken into care”, Boris Johnson has said. “How do we make sure the kids in London are not growing up with these kind of nightmarish ideas in their heads?”

Well, Mr. Johnson, let me ask you another question. How do we make sure the kids in London are not growing up exposed to these kind of nightmarish racist, right-wing ideas?

It was the year of 1998, the former Chilean military dictator, mass murderer and torturer Pinochet had arrived to UK, a country that he called his “most favoured country in the world”. No wonder why he would choose Britain as his favourite place. He was kept there under a very comfortable house arrest, effectively under the protection of the British government. Court trials, endless diplomatic debates and meetings with his favourite person, Thatcher, kept Pinochet in Britain safe and well until he was allowed to return to Chile in 2000 and to die in his comfortable military hospital bed some years later.

Ever since the onset of the international economic crisis in 2008 and the consequent collapse of the Celtic Tiger and the Irish banking system we have seen the abject failure of the Irish trade union movement to mobilise serious resistance to the attempts by successive governments to make working people and the underprivileged pay for the crisis of the system

Anger against the police burst out in Tottenham, north London last night after a protest about the police killing of local black man Mark Duggan. Around 200 of Mark's family and friends had marched earlier in the evening from Broadwater Farm estate to protest outside Tottenham police station about Mark’s death. He had been shot dead on Thursday evening.

Anger against the police burst out in Tottenham, north London last night after a protest about the police killing of local black man Mark Duggan. Around 200 of Mark's family and friends had marched earlier in the evening from Broadwater Farm estate to protest outside Tottenham police station about Mark’s death. He had been shot dead on Thursday evening.
