Unite the Union, Mandate Food Poverty Report and some 'what if' scenarios

"TWO TRADE UNIONS have today called on the government to provide support to organisations giving food assistance to people around the country so they can meet the demand on their services this Christmas. Today Mandate and Unite released a map with a county-by-county breakdown of food poverty in the country, to highlight this demand." (journal.ie)

What if,
1 in 10 people had criminal records…
1 in 10 people had cancer…
1 in 10 were robbing shops...
1 in 10 people were drug addicts….
1 in 10 people were alcoholics…
1 in 10 people were drunk-driving…
1 in 10 children skipped school…
1 in 10 adults had gambling addiction…
1 in 10 men were beating their partners…
1 in 10 doctors were incompetent…
1 in 10 politicians were corrupt…
1 in 10 pets were killed by their owners…
1 in 10 cars were on the road without the NCT certificate…
1 in 10 drivers drove without insurance…
1 in 10 train passengers were travelling without a valid ticket…
1 in 10 teenagers were involved in violent crime…
In short, 1 in 10 aything bad...

What do you think that would be called?

"A NATIONAL DISASTER THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ACTION!"

But,

When nationally, one in ten people suffer food poverty, in other words go hungry, Taoiseach Enda Kenny is happy to say: “The progress that we have made must not be put at risk. Now is not the time to change our course or direction”.

And,

That’s the problem in this country… We need to immediately change the course or direction of the country... 1 in 10 people go hungry. What other proof is required for the need to change it?
