TONY BLAIR’S ADDICTION TO INVADING IRAQ – YET AGAIN…

Today is Blair Day on the news... He says "People should listen to my advice on Isis as I have been to war in Iraq before".

He is addicted to invading Iraq. Unless he gets a good dose of it every ten years or so, he can’t function properly. If he doesn’t get his dose, he starts sweating; his hands itch, his stomach rumbles and his eyes go crazy red… You see, like any addiction, his brain starts playing games… He starts producing arguments to get what he wants...

...

I remember the miserable, rainy September day in Dublin in 2010 when:

The former British Prime Minister,
The former ‘war on terror’ partner of the US
, and
The most vocal enthusiast of the Iraqi War, Tony Blair

had decided to take on a new career in writing and came to our city for his book launch.  Some of us also knew him as:

A warmonger and
A liar who caused the death of hundreds of thousands of people in Iraq.

We surely needed to be there to tell him and his publishers what we thought of him.

As we were getting drenched in rain, he arrived like a dictator of a small African country, under heavy protection of a private gang of body guards in a convoy of super very flashy cars. One simply couldn’t approach him and ask for his autograph, or tell him what one thinks about his book. We - the book lovers - are used to such engagements with other writers but this was no ordinary writer. Like a dodgy businessman, not only he had his own private bodyguards but the official police protection as well. A ‘wall of state’ around him…

No author must have had the luxury of such a ‘grand’ arrival to any book signing. Winning the Booker Prize or the Dublin Literary Award or indeed the Nobel Literature Prize is one thing, that’s easy, but a book signing in the style of a doggy businessman or a corrupt dictator? That’s a challenge for many writers.

He left as he came: AS A WARMONGER HE CAME TO DUBLIN AND AS A WARMONGER HE LEFT… NOT AS A WRITER

The career in writing wasn’t going work for him as well as the PM Job, or the consultancy to big businesses and banks, or the Official Envoy of the Quartet on the Middle East or his Tony Blair Faith Foundation

Blair will always be known by millions of people for his lies, for his ridiculous justifications for the invasion of Iraq, for his superiority complex and for how his lies killed hundreds of thousands civilians in Iraq.

But we must admit that he is a ‘success story’. He succeeded building a business empire for himself, he got the job in the Middle-East and he has escaped any serious investigation or enquiry about his Iraq actions.

He is a ‘success story’, never mind that it is built on blood, tears and lies.

He is also an addict.

He can’t help himself but to try to satisfy his addiction, whatever it takes. He will seek satisfaction at all cost… He is addicted to invading Iraq. Unless he gets a good dose of it every ten years or so, he can’t function properly. If he doesn’t get his dose, he starts sweating; his hands itch, his stomach rumbles and his eyes go crazy red… You see, like any addiction, his brain starts playing games…  He starts producing arguments to get what he wants.

“… Air strikes alone will not defeat Islamic State”

“… You cannot uproot this extremism unless you go to where it originates from and fight it...”

“.. The importance of engaging with a wider spectrum of radical Islamism, not just the violent fringe...”

“… There can be an abundance of diplomacy, all necessary relief of humanitarian suffering, every conceivable statement of condemnation which we can muster, but unless they’re accompanied by physical combat, we will mitigate the problem but not overcome it...”

“… Provided that there is the consent of the population directly threatened and with the broadest achievable alliance ... we have, on occasions, to play our part...”

But Blair is not stupid… He is the mouthpiece of the imperialist agenda. Sometimes he speaks a little too soon and a little more than what his masters would like to hear, but none the less he knows what he is getting into; he knows how to come on top? Blair, yet again is playing his role of justification of another decade of murders, horror and never ending miseries for the Iraqi people, supposedly to solve the problem of murders, horror and never ending miseries for the Iraqis.

Although the imperialist coalition is not so sure (yet) about the full scale and the actual nature of the military intervention in Iraq, Blair is certain and he lays out the roadmap for them.

He also selfishly knows that the only way his legacy of Iraq War will be forgotten is if the direct consequences of this legacy can be used to create another layer of war and destruction and yet another imperialist legacy…

He knows damn well where the roots of extremism get their water from…   He knows what created the conditions in Iraq that gave rise to all of that is happening today…

Blair is clever… He has a lot of experience in killing civilians and getting British soldiers killed. He knows better than Obama, given his close working with Bush, he is experienced. “… Air strikes alone will not defeat Islamic State” That may well be the reality. Blair is giving a message to Obama…  Will Obama understand this and stop the military operations altogether? Or will he listen to Blair and send in the ground troops…  Another 10 years of war and horror and civilian death to follow…

Blair is vicious when it comes to war… He has little time for any debate, discussion. And whatever time he has, it is used for lies and deception. If there is the chance of war, why wait and waste time? His finger is on the trigger. Blair is the trigger happy boy of imperialism:  “… There can be an abundance of diplomacy, all necessary relief of humanitarian suffering, every conceivable statement of condemnation which we can muster, but unless they’re accompanied by physical combat, we will mitigate the problem but not overcome it...

Blair has ambitions. Why stop with ISIS and Iraq? Half of the whole world should be invaded… Where there is Islam - radical or as Blair sees it radical – and where there are interests to protect, there should be bombs, invasions… “.. The importance of engaging with a wider spectrum of radical Islamism, not just the violent fringe...

Blair is a joker, who is not joking when he says “… Provided that there is the consent of the population directly threatened and with the broadest achievable alliance ... we have, on occasions, to play our part...” You see what he calls ‘the population’ aren’t the people who will die from the bombings and invasion of Iraq. Blair’s ‘population’ are the few at the top, called the government of Iraq and a few other puppets brought to powerful positions by the invading forces. For Blair, it is not even the sort of democracy that he wants in Iraq that we think of in London or Dublin. It is more like “ask our man at the top and send in the troops immediately

Yet again, Blair’s addiction of invading Iraq is on the papers…

And the danger is he is not the only one…

And the danger is he gets the spaces on the newspaper pages….

No, it is not madness… No, it is not just a few individuals like Blair… It is the wild animal of imperialism…

And its Blair’s and liars…!

The good news is, we were out on that rainy day in Dublin, and we will be out again…
