PEOPE BEFORE PROFIT ALLIANCE PRESS RELEASE – 17th JANUARY 2014

People Before Profit Alliance Announces its Dublin West 2014 Local Elections Candidates

On Thursday, January 23rd, People Before Profit Alliance (PBPA) will hold a public meeting to launch the Dublin West local elections campaign and formally announce the election candidates. The meeting will take place in The Vineyard, Main Street, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, at 8:30pm.

Louise Bayliss and Memet Uludag will be running in Mulhuddart and Castleknock wards respectively in the 2014 local elections.

Richard Boyd Barrett TD (PBPA) and election candidates Louise Bayliss and Memet Uludag will attend the meeting.

Richard Boyd Barrett TD called on all those who want a real alternative in Dublin West to attend the meeting saying, “I am delighted that we have two great candidates running in Dublin West. Louise and Memet have excellent records of activism and campaigning against various local and national issues. People Before Profit is running candidates in local elections all over the country. Fine Gael and Labour have betrayed the people and have continued the austerity and cuts of the Fine Fail government. We urgently need to build a new political force in the country to fight back against the ongoing government policies. I hope the people of Dublin West will support Louise and Memet”.

Louise Bayliss, the candidate in Mulhuddart ward said, “The economic crisis has shown us that our current political system is failing the majority of our citizens. We need change that guarantees a dignity of life and protection of core human rights for everyone. I truly believe solidarity is the way forward and we need to unite under our common goals, instead of allowing our power to be removed through divisive 'divide and conquer' acts."

Memet Uludag, the candidate in Castleknock ward said, “We pledge, if elected, to fight for people’s rights, to oppose unfair budgets that include measures such as cuts and water/property taxes. We will not participate in the junket culture in the council and we will always defend public services and amenities and oppose privatisation.”
